Classroom & Rehearsal Activities:
Final Exam
- Close all apps on your iPad except for Schoology and keep them closed for the duration of the test
- Before beginning, double check the Music Theory 101 records and make sure that you have been assigned the correct test sections
- Read the "Read This First" document carefully before beginning the test
- Remain silent throughout the entire testing period– if you need a break, raise your hand
- When finished with the test, close your iPad, place it in your backpack; iPads cannot be used after the test is finished
- If you still need to check in your book and/or instrument, see below; if not, read quietly
Instrument and Book Check-in
- Erase all pencil markings in your Essential Elements book
- Stack your Essential Elements book on the front table (Mr. Summers will bring them to the library)
- If you are borrowing an instrument from school, remove all personal items from your instrument case (if you are renting an instrument from IBI, Morey's, etc., it is up to you whether or when to return it)
- Wipe down your instrument with a soft cloth (available on the front table) and be sure to remove any rosin residue
- Loosen your bow
- Bring your instrument to Mr. Summers for inspection and check-in
- Place your case on the rack in the storage room
Announcements / Reminders
- Students who have not yet taken the final exam need to schedule a makeup with me before the end of the semester. Failure to do so may result in a grade of zero (0) on the exam.
- Knott's permission slips are due tomorrow. Groups and chaperones will be posted later today or tomorrow.
- The Spring Awards ceremony is this evening– there are awards for Excellence in Orchestra, Rookie of the Year, and the big one, Outstanding Musicianship
- Criteria for the Outstanding Musicianship award:
- 3-year enrollment in Orchestra
- Grade of A in Orchestra; 2.0 GPA or above
- Clear and consistent demonstration of leadership
- Clear and consistent adherence to the Code of Conduct
- Clear and consistent demonstration of Benton P.R.I.D.E.
- Exceptional musical skills
- Criteria for the Outstanding Musicianship award:
- All assignments submitted by tomorrow will be graded; anything submitted after tomorrow will be ignored
- Lost-and-found will be donated after tomorrow
- Place any unused restroom passes in the homework drawer by tomorrow
