- Compare with a neighbor– were you able to think of as many instruments as they did? Did they think of any that you didn't?
- Write your name on your paper– first and last please
- Place your paper in the homework drawer for this class on the black table in the front of the room to the right of the white board

[5] About this class
- Percussion Lab is a supplement to the Band program
- All percussion students must enroll in both Percussion Lab and Band
- Benton is the only school in the district with a dedicated percussion class!
- Mr. Summers is a percussionist!
- We will learn how to play drums, keyboard percussion, and all the other instruments in the percussion family
- There are people with various levels of experience in this class– we help each other out
[5] Introduce Student Leaders
- Symphonic Band and Orchestra members stand and introduce themselves - name, grade, which percussion instrument(s) you like to play the most
[10] Scavenger Hunt!
- Take out a pen or pencil
- You will receive a Scavenger Hunt worksheet
- When I tell you to begin, you will try and find classmates who fit each category
- When you find someone who fits a category, ask them their name and write down their name in that box
- Each person can only initial your paper twice
- Once you have initials in every box, you win!
